29 Mar Public Invited to Celebrate Clover Island Boat Launch Grand Re-Opening
Kennewick, Wash. — On Wednesday, April 6 at 3:30 p.m. the public is invited to help the Port of Kennewick and the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) celebrate the completion of the public boat launch improvements on Clover Island. A new restroom was built, the parking lot was paved and landscaped, scenic viewpoints were created, launch ramps were replaced, educational signage was added, and “Fair Game” a reclaimed-metal artwork featuring eagles fighting over a salmon was installed. April 6th festivities include: Naval Sea Cadet Corps presenting the Colors; ribbon cutting; U.S. Coast Guard launching the first vessel; and a public reception.
When: Wednesday, April 6, 2016, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
What: Presentation of Colors; recognizing project & funding partners/ribbon cutting/launching the first vessel/celebrating improvements with a public reception (coffee/cookies immediately following ceremonies)
Where: Crowd will gather at the launch site: 102 Clover Island, Clover Island Drive, Kennewick, WA
Clover Island has been in the Port of Kennewick’s property portfolio since 1942. The Port partnered with the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office to construct many of the public amenities. The Port’s goal is to transform Clover Island into a vibrant, mixed-use destination waterfront, and to stimulate urban renewal and increase jobs within Historic Downtown Kennewick.
