13 Jan Board of Commissioners Elects 2016 – 2017 Officers
Kennewick, Wash. – On Tuesday, January 12, Port of Kennewick held an oath of office ceremony for Commissioner Don Barnes, who retained his position on the Board of Commissioners during the past election. Barnes will serve a six-year term as Port Commissioner representing District 1, and he joins Thomas Moak, District 2 and Commissioner Skip Novakovich, District 3 in comprising the Port’s Board of Commissioners.
In a separate action, Port Commissioners also elected officers of the board to serve during both 2016 and 2017. Those positions are as follows: Skip Novakovich, president; Thomas Moak, vice-president; and Don Barnes, secretary.
Port Commissioners are responsible for representing public interests; setting Port policy; determining program direction; setting long and short term goals; approving the biennial budget; and assisting with leadership development of the organization.
