Port of Kennewick Achieves 29 Years of Consecutive Clean Audits
Kennewick, Wash. – The Washington State Auditor’s Office issued notice on Nov. 12 officially closing an accountability and financial audit covering detailed financial statements and statistical data, policies and procedures related to Port of Kennewick’s operations in 2023.
According to the Washington State Auditor’s Office, the port’s 2023 Financial Statement audit was clean, complete and accurate – with no findings (a finding would indicate material deficiencies within the organization).
This audit marks 29 consecutive years of clean reports for Port of Kennewick.
“Reaching 29 years of clean audits is significant for our community and port team,” said Nick Kooiker, the port’s chief financial officer/deputy CEO. “We work hard every day to safeguard the public’s dollars and maintain their trust by operating transparently with tight internal controls.”
Independent audits aim to provide reasonable assurance that financial statements are accurate and presented transparently, including disclosures necessary to provide a reasonable understanding of the port’s financial affairs.
